Wooden sculptures going on display in Ripton
RIPTON — Artwork by Goshen’s Brenda Hall, a wood artist and master finisher, will be on display at Ripton Community Church for most of this month.
Friends of the Ripton Community Church will host a reception for the show of wood sculpture pieces this Saturday, July 8, from 4-6 p.m. at the church on Route 125 in Ripton village. Refreshments will be offered.
Hall has been building, sculpting and “makin’ beautiful” with wood for more than 20 years. Originally from Oregon, where she was surrounded by trees, Hall found her passion at a young age of 7. She was always off in the woods looking for a leaf-filled canopy, running her fingers over the bark or reading under a large Oregon fir.
Her first project was a tree house with re-claimed wood from the grounds near her home, in Hillsboro, Ore. Hall redesigned this tree house every week, hence the beginning of Brenda Hall Wood Design. With two decades of design and practice under her tool belt, Hall has developed a keen eye for detail — feeling the wood, listening to it, working with the grain and texture.
For additional times to see the art in the Ripton church and for more information call Lisa Knickerbocker 802-779-2704 or Brenda Hall 860-480-1021. More information on Hall is at BHWooddesign.com.
