Local high school athletes to compete in all-star games

ADDISON COUNTY — A number of local senior high school athletes have been announced as playing in upcoming all-star games.
First, three local field hockey players were selected to play for Vermont in this Friday’s Twin-State Field Hockey game vs. New Hampshire: Otter Valley’s Allison Lowell, Middlebury Union’s Lily Smith and Mount Abraham’s Ashley Turner. The game is set for St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, N.H., at 7 p.m.
On June 24, Middlebury graduates Riley Fenster and Trey Kaufmann and Mount Abe’s Turner will play for Vermont teams in Twin-State lacrosse games vs. their New Hampshire counterparts. Fenster and Turner will suit up for the Vermont girls’ team at 12:30 p.m. at Hanover (N.H.) High School, and Kaufmann will play for the Vermont boys at 3 p.m.
On July 1 three recent MUHS stars will lace up their skates to play for Vermont against New Hampshire in the annual Make-A-Wish Ice Hockey Classic. Middlebury’s Molly Wetmore and Fair Haven’s Julia Carone, who played for the Tigers, will skate for the Vermont girls at 4 p.m. at the University of Vermont’s Gutterson Arena, and Tiger Andrew Gleason will skate for Vermont in the boys’ game that will follow. 
On June 30 and July 1, five graduates from Mount Abraham, Otter Valley and MUHS will participate in the North-South Softball Classic at Castleton University, all on the South team. Teams are scheduled to play a double header on Saturday and one game on Sunday. 
South team members include Eagle Rachael McCormick, Otters Courtney Bushey and Charlotte Winslow, and Tigers Payton Buxton and Lily Smith.
