New Haven’s Campground Road to close June 17-23

NEW HAVEN — Campground Road in New Haven is scheduled to be closed to through traffic at the rail crossing beginning Saturday, June 17,  at 7 a.m. while the rail crossing is upgraded.
This closure is scheduled to last seven consecutive days until June 24.
This rail crossing is approximately 0.4 mile west of Route 7. Work to be performed includes reconstruction of the existing railroad crossing, welded rail panel through the crossing, elevation changes to the railroad, modifications to the roadway profile, pavement markings, signs and new active warning devices, include gates and flashers.
Crews will be onsite this week placing construction signs and preparing the project area for the June 17 closure. A signed detour will be in effect for the seven-day closure period. Crews this week will also install erosion control.
Activities within the construction zone may require one-way alternating traffic at various times throughout the week. Flaggers and traffic control personnel will be on site directing the flow of traffic. Expect minor delays.
The construction contractors in charge of the project, GPI Inc., ask that drivers on Campground Road focus on safety when driving through the construction zone and reminded people that is against the law to use a hand held cell phone while driving in Vermont.
Contact GPI Project Outreach Coordinator Natalie Boyle with any questions or concerns in regard to this project at 802-310-7822. For additional information regarding the construction project occurring in New Haven this summer please go to our regional Facebook page titled “VTrans Rutland Region Construction Contracts.” Periodic updates and pictures may be posted there.
