Zig Zag seeks submissions from writers, artists

VERGENNES — Zig Zag Lit Mag, Addison County’s arts and literary magazine, has issued a call for submissions of writing and artwork for its third issue. Submissions will be accepted from June 1 until July 15.Zig Zag’s Issue 3 is expected to be released at an event on Sept. 24 in the barrel room of Stonecutter Spirits in Middlebury.
After a successful first year of publishing art and writing in Addison County thanks to a Small and Inspiring Grant from the Vermont Community Foundation, the editorial board of Zig Zag is pleased to begin work on its third issue, which will be funded with proceeds from the first two issues.
“It has been a true pleasure to connect the writing voices that have hidden in back rooms and closets with the eyes and ears of our local readers … to surprise neighbors and acquaintances with stories crafted next door or around the corner,” Editor-In-Chief Muir Haman said. “I hope we can inspire more people to share their stories, writing, and art through our publication.”
Visit zigzaglitmag.org to view the full submissions guidelines. On Saturday, July 15, members of the editing board will be at the Bixby Library in Vergennes to assist artists and writers in formatting their work properly for submissions. Even creators of physical pieces of art are invited to bring their pieces for a professional-quality photograph to be taken for submission.
Zig Zag’s Issue 2 is still for sale at the Vermont Book Shop in Middlebury, at Recycled Reading in Bristol, and at the Bixby Library in Vergennes. Digital versions of the first two issues can still be viewed on zigzaglitmag.org, and the Zig Zag crew encourages those with questions to reach out via the website as well.
