Panton poet to be featured at Zig Zag ‘Table Read’ series May 30 at Bixby

VERGENNES — On Tuesday, May 30, at 6 p.m., the Bixby Library will host a poetry event sponsored by Zig Zag Lit Mag, Addison County’s arts and literary magazine, as part of their Table Read Series.
Panton poet Michelle L. Mowery will present “Parallel Circuit,” an in-progress chapbook of poetry whose subject the author describes as, “a particular kind of love: There was an electricity between the two / an unwelcomed / untimed / undeniable spark.”
Mowery’s collection consists of unpublished poems. She has spent much of her life working on poetry without sharing it. The ongoing writing workshops offered at the Bixby Library have enabled her to grow and to share her work in public. At the Table Read, her work will be read aloud, then discussed with her as an unspeaking witness.
Her willingness to participate is a testament to how helpful the process is to writers. The Table Read format has developed over the course of more than a year as Zig Zag Lit Mag’s staff has assisted writers working in such diverse forms as dramatic writing, screenplays, short stories, novellas and poetry.
The Table Read Series is a monthly event and the public is encouraged to attend. Each event focuses on one work-in-progress, and no writing experience is required to participate. Lack of experience as a writer is actually encouraged. These readings are an enlightening experience for anyone interested in the behind-the-scenes work that produces published writing.
