MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ and girls’ tennis teams each defeated U-32 on Wednesday by 5-2 scores, the boys doing so in East Montpelier and the girls on their home courts in Middlebury.
The Tiger boys improved to 7-4 heading into their last scheduled regular season match, vs. Spaulding at home on Friday. The Tiger girls moved to 4-7 with a road match at Spaulding on Friday scheduled. Both those were played after the early holiday deadline for this edition of the Independent.
The individual results in the Tiger boys’ match vs. U-32 were:
•  At No. 1 singles, Ziven McCarty, M, defeated Wilson Knight, U, 6-1, 6-3.
•  At No. 2 singles, Owen Hammel, M, defeated Basil Hume, U, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3).
•  At No. 3 singles, Jesse Rubin, M, defeated Luc Burnier, U, 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7).
•  At No. 4 singles, Owen Mika-Smith, U, defeated Alex Marohnic, M, 6-0, 6-0.
•  At No. 5 singles, Sam Chamberlain, M, won by forfeit.
•  At No. 1 doubles, Joe Franco/Gavin Deis, U, defeated Sam Daly and Drew Kiernan, M, 6-3, 6-2.
•  At No. 2 doubles, Hunter Munteanu/Spencer Doran, M, won by forfeit.
The individual results in the Tiger girls’ match vs. U-32 were:
•  At No. 1 singles, Alex Hepp, U, defeated Charlotte Keathley, M, 6-0, 6-4.
•  At No. 2 singles, Claire Wulfman, M, defeated Ginger Knight, U, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).
•  At No. 3 singles, Amelia Ingersoll, M, defeated Grace Dellinger-Pate, U, 6-0, 6-2
•  At No. 4 singles, Sierra Barnicle, M, defeated Addie Hannan, U, 6-2, 7-6.
•  At No. 5 singles, Eva Jessup, U, defeated Megi Hoxha, M, 6-1, 6-2
•  At No. 1 doubles, Monroe Cromis/Tasha Hescock, M, defeated Abi Brewer/Javiera Hormazabal Droguett, U, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).
•  At No. 2 doubles, Calista Carl/Hattie Lindert, M, defeated Madison Roberge/Ana Young, U, 7-5, 6-3.
