Tiger boys’ tennis wins two of three; girls tennis doesn’t win in three tries

MIDDLEBURY — In Middlebury Union High School tennis late last week, the Tiger boys swept two matches on Wednesday before falling on Friday, all at home, while the Tiger girls lost twice on Wednesday and once on Friday, all on the road.
The Tiger boys are 5-4, and the girls are 3-6.
TIGER BOYS VS. NCU
On Wednesday in Middlebury, North Country forfeited all doubles matches in the Tigers’ 7-0, 7-0 sweep. Individual matches were one eight-point set apiece to allow two overall matches to be played to make up for an earlier rainout. The results were:
Match 1:
•  At No. 1 singles, Ziven McCarty defeated Connor Davis, 8-0.
•  At No. 2 singles, Jesse Rubin defeated Nick Bliss, 8-1.
•  At No. 3 singles, Sam Daly defeated Gabe Blake, 8-0.
•  At No. 4 singles, Spencer Doran defeated, Colin Archer, 8-4.
•  At No. 5 singles, Tre Bonavita defeated Evan Tremblay, 8-4.
Match 2:
•  At No. 1 singles, Owen Hammel defeated Davis, 8-1.
•  At No. 2 singles, Rubin defeated Bliss, 8-4.
•  At No. 3 singles, Drew Kiernan defeated Blake, 8-0.
•  At No. 4 singles, Hunter Munteanu defeated Archer, 8-2.
•  At No. 5 singles, Alex Marohnic Tremblay, 5-0.
Visiting Harwood defeated the Tigers on Friday, 6-1, with only Rubin at No. 3 posting a victory.  
TIGER GIRLS VS. NCU
In Newport on Wednesday, individual matches were also shortened to make up for an earlier postponement as North Country swept MUHS. The Tiger girls’ individual results were:
Falcons, 6-1:
•  At No. 1 singles, Claire Wulfman lost, 7-7 (1-7).
•  At No. 2 singles, Charlotte Keathley won, 8-3.
•  At No. 3 singles, Monroe Cromis lost, 6-8.
•  At No. 4 singles, Tasha Hescock lost, 2-8.
•  At No. 5 singles, Calista Carl lost, 3-8.
•  At No. 1 doubles, Amelia Ingersoll/Nora Draper lost in a tiebreak, 7-7 (5-7).
•  At No. 2 doubles, Megi Hoxha/Hattie Lindert lost, 2-8.
Falcons, 4-3:
•  At No. 1 singles, Keathley won, 8-5.
•  At No. 2 singles, Ingersoll won, 8-3.
•  At No. 3 singles, Carl lost, 6-8.
•  At No. 4 singles, Draper lost, 2-8.
•  At No. 5 singles, Diana Kliykbayeva, 3-8.
•  At No. 1 doubles, Cromis/Wulfman won, 8-2.
•  At No. 2 doubles, Hattie Lindert/Hescock lost, 6-8.
Host Harwood defeated the Tigers, 6-1, on Friday. Individual results were unavailable before deadline.
