Eagles earn only baseball victory

ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school baseball action, all on Tuesday, Mount Abraham picked up a win, but Vergennes and Middlebury came up short.
EAGLES
The Eagles defeated visiting North Country, 9-0, as Adam Whitcomb tossed his second consecutive complete-game shutout, this one a three-hitter in which he struck out 13 and walked one.
Pacing the offense for the 5-4 Eagles were Chris Wood andDustin Whitcomb, each with three hits, and Wyatt Gendreau andGeorge Bailey, with two hits apiece.
TIGERS
Host Mount Mansfield blanked the Tigers, 9-0, as Cougar hurler Shea Fitzgerald tossed a three-hit shutout. Skyeler Devlin took the loss for the 1-8 Tigers.
COMMODORES
Visiting Champlain Valley defeated the Commodores, 16-4. Will Wormer took the pitching loss as VUHS, which had won three of four to reach .500, dropped to 4-5.
