Tiger boys’ tennis breaks into win column
ST. ALBANS — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ tennis team defeated host St. Albans on Saturday, 6-1, to break into the win column. MUHS also dropped a 4-3 decision at Harwood on Thursday and are 1-2 after a Friday match vs. North Country was postponed.
Tiger No. 1 Ziven McCarty won both of his matches in straight sets, as did Tiger No. 3 Jesse Rubin. Also winning twice was the No. 2 doubles team of Drew Kiernan and Sam Daly, in straight sets on Saturday and in three sets vs. Harwood.
Tiger No. 2 Owen Hammel split his matches, winning vs. BFA and losing vs. Harwood, as did No. 4 Ronan Howlett. No. 5 Spencer Doran lost at Harwood and picked up a forfeit win on Saturday.
The No. 1 Tiger doubles team of Hunter Munteanu and Alex Marohnic dropped both matches.
If weather cooperates, the Tigers will host U-32 at 3:30 on Tuesday.
