Rebels top VUHS softball on road

VERGENNES — The Vergennes Union High School softball team lost at South Burlington, 16-3, on Monday.
The Commodores’ Tuesday home game vs. Spaulding was moved to Wednesday. VUHS carried a 1-5 record into that contest.
The Rebels improved to 4-2 with the win, which was keyed by a five-run second inning, in which Liz Sargent drilled a three-run triple. Sargent finished with five RBIs.
Rebel starter Becky Borrazzo allowed two hits and two walks in six innings, one of each to Sophie Rippner-Donovan, who scored two of the VUHS runs. Aly Gebo took the pitching loss.
