Solons outlast Eagle boys’ lax
MONTPELIER — The Mount Abraham/Vergennes boys’ lacrosse team rallied at Montpelier on Monday, but came up just short in a 7-6 setback.
The Solons, who are 2-0, with both wins at the Eagles’ expense, took a 6-2 halftime lead and still led by 6-3 entering the fourth quarter before they had to hold off a late Eagle surge.
Solon goalie Roger Medina-Ruiz made 13 saves to key the victory, and Conor Barrett scored five times for Montpelier, which defeated Mount Abe by 17-15 in the opener for both teams.
The Eagles dropped to 1-2 and will visit Stowe on Saturday. Their scheduled game at Otter Valley on Wednesday was moved to May 15.
