Letter to the Editor: Porter went ‘above and beyond’ for hospice patient
My husband Joseph J. Martel died March 31, 2017 after a long illness. He was in the Arch Room (Hospice) for four days. The care he got was above and beyond. The nurses, who were busy, would take the time to ask us if we were okay and when they had to do anything to Joe they bent down and whispered in his ear “this is going to hurt, but will be quick.” They took time for the little things. When he passed they put flowers on him.
This is the difference between a great small hospital and a large one. Also, the Hospice team went above and beyond. Jane and Jane, Tim, Stephanie and other names I can’t remember, also PCA & LNA Marlene and Elaine, thank you for his care. It is great to have such a caring small hospital here.
