Rutland blanks Tiger baseball

RUTLAND — Host Rutland cruised past the Middlebury Union High School baseball team on Thursday, 13-0, in the opener for both squads.
Raider starting pitcher Reece de Castro allowed just two hits over six innings, striking out five to earn the win. Ten Raiders stroked hits, including de Castro, who had an RBI double.
The Tigers will look to bounce back on Tuesday, when they host Essex at 4:30 p.m. Champlain Valley is scheduled to visit on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. as MUHS faces tough tests early on.
