Foote among Vt. Sports Hall of Fame inductees on April 22

SOUTH BURLINGTON — Tickets are now on sale for the fifth annual Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration, set for on Saturday, April 22, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Burlington at 1117 Williston Road in South Burlington. 
Among the 14 inductees is longtime Middlebury College women’s lacrosse and field hockey Coach Missy Foote.
The event starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m. The induction ceremony will follow a 6:30 p.m. dinner. Tickets for the event are $75 per person, and tables for 10 are available. Those interested in tickets may visit www.vermontsportshall.com or e-mail [email protected]
The other inductees are Olympic skiers Betsy Snite Riley, Lindy Cochran Kelley and Martha Rockwell; coaches Ed Markey of St. Michael’s College and Bernie Cieplicki Sr. of Burlington; the father of U.S. Nordic skiing, John Caldwell; Olympic equestrian gold medalist Tad Coffin; Burlington Free Press sportswriter Don Fillion; Golden Gloves champion boxer Tony Robitaille; Norwich University hockey and soccer standout Guy Gaudreau; mountain climbing pioneer Helmut Lenes; and multiple Boston Marathon winner Clarence DeMar.
A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit Prevent Child Abuse Vermont. The event has raised over $10,000 for the nonprofit since its inception in 2012.
Gov. Phil Scott will present plaques to the inductees, and WCAX-TV sports director Mike McCune will be the master of ceremonies.
