Public input sought on 6th grade changes

MIDDLEBURY — Addison Central Superintendent Peter Burrows has laid out the following schedule to get public input on a proposal to transfer 6th-grade instruction to Middlebury Union Middlebury School, beginning in the fall of 2018:
•  A “superintendent listing tour” scheduled for April 10 at Bridport Central School, April 17 at Cornwall’s Bingham Elementary, April 18 at Mary Hogan Elementary in Middlebury, April 20 at Shoreham Elementary, April 21 at MUMS, May 1 at Ripton Elementary, May 3 at Weybridge Elementary, and May 5 at Salisbury Community School. All meetings are scheduled from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
•  A community survey to be offered to parents, teachers, students and community members. More details about the survey, and where to take it, will be disclosed later this week via emails, and through the ACSD’s website (www.acsu.org) and newsletter.
•  Community forums to be held in May, with a presentation on analysis of the district’s grade configuration study. The forums will be held in three to-be-determined locations throughout ACSD.
•  Burrows will make a recommendation on the proposed 6th-grade transition to the ACSD board in late June for a vote.
