Youth skaters win N.E. hockey crown
AUBURN, Maine — Three Under-16 area girls’ ice hockey players will early next month head to Michigan to compete for a national championship.
Middlebury residents Alexis Bartlett and Abby Gleason and Cornwall resident Kate Donahue all skated for the Vermont Shamrocks team that won the Tier II New England Regional Championship this past weekend in Auburn, Maine.
The trio, also members of the Middlebury Union High School hockey team this past season, helped the Shamrocks go 4-0 against other competition from around the region in Auburn.
From April 6 to 10, they will join the Shamrocks in Troy, Mich., at the Tier II U16 National Championships seeking a U.S. title to add to their regional crown.
