Middlebury Police Log: Shoreham man cited for DUI after report of erratic driving
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Rodrigo Cardoso De Lima, 37, of Shoreham for driving under the influence, following a report of a man driving in an erratic manner on South Main Street on March 9.
Police said they measured De Lima’s blood-alcohol content at 0.189 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Assisted Vermont State Police with a reported vehicle roll-over near the intersection of Route 125 and Ridge Road in Cornwall on March 6.
• Quieted a noisy tenant at a Court Street apartment on March 6.
• Continued their investigation on March 7 into the reported theft of an Apple iPod from Hannaford Supermarket.
• Helped Porter Hospital staff with an upset patient on March 7.
• Received a report about a dispute between some Court Street neighbors on March 8.
• Warned a noisy tenant of a Court Street apartment to quiet down on March 8.
• Were informed of the theft of a bicycle from Middlebury College campus on March 8.
• Received a report about a man making a lewd comment to a woman on Mill Street on March 8. Police said the man had been driving a dark-green, older-model Chevrolet pick-up truck. Police said they were unable to locate the vehicle.
• Received a report about two students allegedly smoking marijuana in a Middlebury Union High School restroom on March 8. Police said the students admitted to the offense.
• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a suicidal person on Water Street on March 9.
• Responded to a report of a patient leaving a small amount of marijuana at Porter Hospital on March 9.
• Helped Middlebury Regional EMS with an overdose patient on North Pleasant Street on March 9.
• Investigated a two-car crash, with a minor injury, on Court Street Extension on March 10. Police said one of the drivers was ticketed for not having insurance.
• Were asked by Porter Hospital staff to speak with a patient who was acting aggressively on March 10. Police said the man was refusing to remain at the hospital in spite of being told that his health was in danger because of potential blood clots. At one point, the patient allegedly swung his arm at a hospital worker, according to police reports. Police said they and hospital staff were able to calm the man.
• Responded to a report of an aggressive patron at Two Brothers Tavern on Main Street on March 11. Tavern workers alleged the man was drunk and was getting out of control. The man had left by the time police arrived. Tavern workers said they will tell the man he is no longer welcome, according to police.
• Investigated the alleged violation of a restraining order at a Valley View residence on March 12.
• Responded to a verbal dispute at a North Forty Lane address on March 12. Police said the argument was breaking up when they arrived.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash, with property damage, on Elm Street on March 12.
• Cited Andrew K. Mitchell, 42, of Middlebury for driving under the influence (second offense), following a traffic stop at the intersection of Exchange Street and Route 7 on March 12. Police said his blood alcohol content was 0.125.
