ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are trying to find out who threw a heavy object at a school bus full of kids and broke a bus window in Starksboro last week.
On Tuesday, Feb. 28, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a Bet-Cha Transit school bus was transporting children home from school on Big Hollow Road near the Hillside Manor trailer park in Starksboro when an object broke through one of the side windows on the bus causing it to break. Police found that the object, a large marble-size ball.
Police determined that an unknown person in a wooded area near the trailer park had projected the object, a large, marble-size ball, with enough force to break through the window causing minor injury to two of the passengers sitting on the bus.

In other recent activity, state police:
•  On March 1 at five minutes past midnight troopers responded to a report that a car had struck a utility pole on Route 30 near Bardon Drive in Cornwall; police were told that two people were seen walking away from the vehicle. With the assistance of Middlebury police, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Emma Angier of New Haven, was located at a nearby residence. Police reported that Angier admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the collision. A preliminary sample of her breath showed a blood alcohol content of 0.084; the legal limit for driving is 0.08. Troopers took Angier to the New Haven state police barracks and cited her for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police report that the 2004 Nissan Sentra she was driving was a total loss and Angier suffered minor abrasions in the crash.
•  On March 2 at just before 7 p.m. responded to a report of a domestic assault in Bridport. State police were informed that Brian E. Bishop Jr., 24, of Bridport had placed a family member in fear when he struck a vehicle with an object while the family member was sitting in the vehicle. Troopers took Bishop into custody without incident, cited him for domestic assault and released him with conditions.
•  On March 3 at approximately 8:37 a.m. responded to a report of a two-car crash on Route 17 near Sunset Lane in Addison that was bad enough that it closed the road. Police said their investigation showed that a 1990 farm truck driven by Charles Potter, 70, of Fort Ann, N.Y., entered the intersection of Route 17 and Sunset Lane in front of a 2014 Kia Soul driven by 29-year-old Melissa Ruggles of Lincoln. Troopers report that the Kia was unable to stop or avoid the collision. The local fire department and rescue squad responded to the scene.
Ruggles suffered a serious leg injury and her car was totaled. Potter was uninjured and his truck sustained moderate damage.
Route 17 was closed to traffic for approximately two hours.
Police issued Potter a ticket for entering an intersection unsafely and a ticket to Ruggles for driving with a license that was under civil suspension.
•  On March 4 at a little past 11:30 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Painter Road in Middlebury, after observing several motor vehicle violations. After driver Tracey Cook, 39, of Bristol submitted to standardized field sobriety tests, Cook provided a sample of her breath, which police said showed a blood alcohol content of 0.169 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08. The trooper took Cook to the New Haven state police barracks and cited her for driving under the influence, second offense.
•  On March 4 at just before midnight stopped a motor vehicle on Route 116 South in Bristol and identified the driver as Alara Bourgeois, 23, of Bristol. Police cited Bourgeois for driving with a criminally suspended license.
