VUHS boys fall to Mill River at hoop tourney

EAST CLARENDON — Host No. 1 Mill River on Wednesday bounced the No. 16 Vergennes Union High School boys’ basketball team from the Division II playoffs, 65-49.
The Minutemen, who improved to 19-2 headed into a Saturday quarterfinal vs. Otter Valley, bolted to a 34-14 halftime lead over the Commodores and held them off in the second half. MRU standout Mike Morgan led his team with 21 points.
VUHS senior guards Adam Gill and Dylan Bradford wrapped up their Commodore careers with 17 and 15 points, respectively, as VUHS finished 3-18.
