Tiger dance team earns third-place finishes
VERGENNES — The Middlebury Union High School dance team finished third in both of its disciplines, Jazz and Hip-Hop, at the state championship competition, held on Saturday at Vergennes Union High School.
Mount Mansfield won both those disciplines by wide margins. Lamoille edged the Tigers by a single point for second place among nine teams in the Hip Hop competitions, while South Burlington finished second among eight teams in Jazz.
South Burlington won the third discipline, Pom, followed by Colchester, with Mt. Anthony and Burr & Burton in a tie for third.
In Hip Hop the Tigers scored well in the Communication and Projection, Creativity and Musicality, Spacing, Synchronization, and Placement and Control categories.
Their best results in the Jazz competition, according to the judges, came in Creativity and Musicality, and in Spacing.
The members of the team are Brittany Baker, Dace Eaton, Marissa Freegard-Rougier, Anne Garner, Shelby Monica, Hannah Williams, Josie Abbott, Sarah Broughton, Bethany Palmer and Suzanne Klemmer.
Caitlin Hurteau and Megan Hotte coach the team.
