Pawlett author to discuss ‘Year of No Clutter’ at Vermont Book Shop

MIDDLEBURY — Vermont author Eve Schaub, who was celebrated for her book “Year of No Sugar,” will talk about her new memoir, “Year of No Clutter,” on Thursday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Vermont Book Shop in Middlebury. A book signing will follow. It is free and open to the public.
In Schaub’s first memoir, “Year of No Sugar,” she challenged her husband and two school-age daughters to join her on a quest to quit sugar for an entire year. In “Year of No Clutter” she challenges herself to tackle the “Hell Room,” an almost-600-square-foot room on the second floor of their house that is nearly impossible to navigate due to all the piles of unorganized stuff, and almost all of it is hers. In the beginning, Schaub looked forward to clearing all that “clutter” out of her home, but what she discovered was a lot more interesting.
“Year of No Clutter” has been described as a deeply inspiring — and frequently hilarious — examination of why we keep stuff in the first place, and how to let it all go.
Eve O. Schaub graduated from Cornell and Rochester Institute of Technology. She has written for Vermont Life and Vermont Magazine, among others. During her family’s year of no sugar, Schaub blogged regularly and was often a guest on WAMC, New York’s NPR affiliate, as well as a regular visitor to Vermont Public Radio. She lives in Pawlet with her family.
Additionally, Tuesday, March 7 to Monday, March 13 has been designated by Schaub’s publisher, Source-books, “Week of No Clutter” in recognition of the new book. People are encouraged to share a photo of their “Hell Room” on social media and use the hashtag #WeekOfNoClutter for a chance to win a $100 gift card to the Container Store.
