MUHS girls’ hockey nets a pair of wins

NORTHFIELD — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team won twice last week to enter the final week of the regular season at 13-4-1 and in third place in Division I.
Essex (14-2-2) and Rutland (13-3-2) remained in first and second, respectively, after skating to a 0-0 tie in Essex on Saturday.
The Tigers will finish the regular season by hosting Essex on Wednesday and visiting surging fourth-place St. Albans on Saturday.
On Wednesday, the Tigers defeated the Colchester-Burlington collective, 7-4. Andi Boe led the way with two goals and three assists, and Tully Hescock also scored twice to pace the Tigers. Two SeaLaker goalies combined for 45 saves.
On Saturday the Tigers edged host Northfield, 2-1, on Carone’s late tie-breaking goal in the third period, with Boe assisting. Anderson, from Carone, scored earlier for MUHS.
Northfield goalie Kylee Thayer made 36 saves and Hendy stopped nine shots for the Tigers.
