Local DAR chapter honors Vietnam Veterans

VERGENNES — The Seth Warner – Rhoda Farrand Chapter of the DAR hosted a lunch for local Vietnam Veterans on Feb. 4 at Vergennes American Legion Post 14. The chapter is a partner with the Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Committee. Fifteen veterans attended this year, seven of whom were first timers.
Each veteran who has attended the annual lunch since 2015 has received a certificate and a Vietnam era veteran lapel pin. Everyone who served between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975 is entitled to receive this pin. After the presentation Ted Boelens, a veteran himself, sang “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” Shaw’s donated a beautifully decorated cake to the event.
