Late goals sink Tiger boys’ hockey, 4-1

ESSEX — The host Essex boys’ hockey team finally cracked the Tiger defense and goaltending in Saturday’s third period and rallied for a 4-1 victory.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second period on an Andrew Gleason power-play strike, but Hornet Jonah Janaro tied the game five minutes into the third period. Grady Cram put Essex (5-5) on top for good, and Hornet Nick McGovern added a shorthanded goal with the Tigers pressing for a tie. Essex added an empty-net strike.
Sam Foster made 14 saves for Essex, and Tiger goalie Doug Delorenzo stopped 34 shots as MUHS dropped to 5-4-1.
