MUHS Nordic teams fare well in Stowe

STOWE — On Dec. 11 the Middlebury Union High School Nordic teams competed well in a 5-kilometer classic race against Division I teams at a meet hosted by Stowe at the Trapp Family Lodge.
The Tiger boys placed three racers in the top 10 and finished second behind Champlain Valley in a seven-team team field, 21-33, with Stowe (45), Mount Mansfield (71), Colchester (86), Peoples (134) and Fairfax (164) rounding out the field.
The Tiger girls also placed all four scorers in the top 11 and scored 34 points, but settled for third behind CVU (16) and Mount Mansfield (28). Colchester (95), Peoples (123) and Fairfax (183) also competed.
Cade Christner led the boys’ team by taking second in 16:28. Redhawk Tyler Marshall cruised to the win in 15:28. Also scoring for MUHS were Harlow Punderson, fifth in 17:39; Ross Crowne, seventh in 18:31; and Tobias Broucke, 19th in 19:56.
Malia Hodges paced the Tiger girls by taking fourth in 20:40. CVU’s Meara Heininger won in 19:22. The other Tiger scorers finished 9-10-11: Isabel Rosenberg in 21:43, Kate Oster in 21:52, and Amelia Ingersoll in 21:55.
The Tigers will host their annual regular-season meet at Rikert Nordic Center this Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. Their meet scheduled at U-32 this past Saturday was cancelled.
