MUHS boys’ hockey moves to 4-3
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team won twice last week to move over .500 for the first time this season at 4-3, 3-2 in Division I play.
On Wednesday, the Tigers edged Woodstock, 1-0, on a Henry Hodde goal with 3:41 left in regulation. Jake Peluso picked up the assist. MUHS goalie Jeffrey Stearns earned the shutout with 11 saves, and Wasp goalie Jason Drebber kept his team in the game with 29 saves.
On Saturday, the Tigers erupted for a season-high four goals in a 4-2 win at Rice. Three of those goals came in the first period as MUHS took control early.
Scoring for the Tigers were Devon Kearns, Andrew Gleason, Alexander Yurista and Josh Girard. Goalie Doug DeLorenzo backstopped the win 27 saves, while two Green Knight goalies combined for 23 stops.
