FERRISBURGH — The Ferrisburgh Grange’s “King Pede” card parties will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, and Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Ferrisburgh Town Hall and Community Center at 6:30 p.m. The socializing begins with a sandwich supper and then on to an evening of fun and card games. This is a great way to keep in touch with your neighbors and support our Grange — so please consider joining this event.
It is wintertime and that means the Ferrisburgh Skating Rink has ice and is ready for Skating! All residents are welcome to enjoy this local opportunity to get out, visit with friends and enjoy the beautiful Vermont winter. The skating rink is located next to the Ferrisburgh Central School. For more information contact Martha Davis, [email protected] or visit the Ferrisburgh Skating Rink Facebook page for updates on availability and ice conditions: Facebook/ferrisburghskatingrink.
Come out and shake off your winter blues with a disco family dance party! The Unification Disco Dance Party features live music by Discolicious and also DJ Soundrock with Bill Clark. Come decked out in your full 70s disco glory for the fun on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 6-9 p.m. at the Vergennes Union High School Gym.
This party is open to the local community, including all families from kindergarten through high school and beyond. Please, no drop offs. This is a family dance party and we’d love to see everyone there. The entry fee is by donation and will support your local public school. The event is hosted by the following local groups: Ferrisburgh Central School Parent Teacher Organization, Commodore Parent Teacher Group (VUHS/VUMS), Vergennes Union Elementary School Community Group, and the Addison Central School Parent-Teacher Association.
Volunteer to serve your community through Meals on Wheels! Throughout Vermont, the Meals on Wheels program serves a vital function, connecting seniors with a nourishing meal and a friendly face five times a week. The Champlain Valley Agency on Aging (Age Well VT) located in Essex Junction administers the overall program, but depends on local organizations to manage the scheduling, drivers and meal delivery.
The Vergennes Meals on Wheels program serves residents in Vergennes and also the four neighboring communities of Ferrisburgh, Addison, Waltham and Panton. There are four routes each weekday, and the number of participants ranges from 25-30. The Vergennes Rotary organizes and provides drivers for the program but it is not a requirement that a driver be a Rotarian; just a helpful, friendly visitor.
Presently, the Rotary is in serious need of volunteer drivers. Volunteers are needed to assist for at least one day a week (currently Tuesday and Thursday are the greatest need) for about an hour and a half in late morning. There is also a need for substitute drivers who are willing to learn all four routes and fill in for a regular driver who is unable to do a route for a day. A Winter Adventure Camp for youth is being held at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. This camp will explore the Winter Environment with the museum staff teaching about such skills as cold weather survival and how to follow animal tracks. There will also be fun time to play in the snow and enjoy hot chocolate. The camp is for youth ages 8-12 and will be held Feb. 20-24 at the LCMM. There is a registration fee of $300. For more information, email [email protected].
