Audubon walk and talk on tap for January

MIDDLEBURY — Otter Creek Audubon is sponsoring two events next week that will help participants better understand the natural world.
First up is the latest installment of the Cabin Fever Lecture Series on Thursday, Jan. 12. The topic this month is “Canada Lynx: A Vermont Resident?” The public is invited to a talk by Vermont Fish and Wildlife biologist Chris Bernier about the lives of Canada Lynx and their status in Vermont, where they are listed as an endangered species.  The free presentation will take place at 7 p.m. at the Ilsley Public Library in Middlebury.
Then on Saturday, Jan. 14, Otter Creek Audubon and the Middlebury Area Land Trust will host their Monthly Wildlife Walk. Community members are invited to help the groups survey birds and other wildlife at Otter View Park and the Hurd Grassland. Meet at the parking area of Otter View Park at the intersection of Weybridge Street and Pulp Mill Bridge Road in Middlebury at 8 a.m. Birders of all ages and abilities welcome.
