Tiger girls skate to tournament win

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team romped to a pair of wins last week in claiming the title of their own Fletcher “Buster” Brush Holiday Classic at the Memorial Sports Center.
The Tigers improved to 3-0-1 in the process and will return to Division I league play this week by hosting Burr & Burton at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and visiting South Burlington on Saturday.
On this past Wednesday, the Tigers defeated the Champlain Valley-Mount Mansfield collective, 6-2, as Andi Boe notched a hat trick and picked up an assist. Boe scored twice in the middle period to help the Tigers push their lead to 3-0. 
Raven Payne and Lexi Bartlett picked up a goal and an assist apiece, and Helen Anderson also scored. Goalie Rowan Hendy made 14 saves for the Tigers. Two C-Hawks goalies combined for 21 stops.
On Thursday, the Tigers erupted for four goals in the second period in a 6-0 win over Spaulding. Anderson paced the attack with two goals, Boe chipped in a goal and two assists, Tulley Hescock and Lexi Bartlett added a goal and an assist apiece, Julia Carone scored once and Monroe Cromis assisted on four goals.  
Goalie Katie Billings stopped three shots to earn the shutout for MUHS, while Maddy Pletzer made 49 stops for the 3-3 Crimson Tide, who played the tournament without standout forward Jessica Scott.
