State of Vermont offering rebates toward replacing wood stoves
MONTPELIER — The Clean Energy Development Fund (CEDF) and the Agency of Natural Resources Division of Air Quality and Climate have teamed up to help Vermonters who currently heat with wood to get new cleaner burning stoves installed.
The wood stove change-out program provides an incentive payment of up to $1,500 toward the price of a new cord wood or wood pellet stove if an old non EPA-certified wood stove (approximately pre-1988) is taken out of service.
The goals of the wood stove change-out program are to:
· Reduce emissions of wood smoke in Vermont.
· Increase the use of cleaner wood and wood pellet burning stoves in Vermont.
· Promote a sustainable and healthy Vermont forest economy.
· Support Vermont wood and pellet stove manufacturers and dealers.

The program will operate on a first come, first-served basis until the $225,000 allocated to the program is fully reserved. Additional funding may be available from ANR or the CEDF if the program is successful.
