Letter to the editor: New Vermont energy law seen as win-win proposition

In the face of impending consequences of global warming and climate changes, Act 174 looks like a good way to move forward with what we all must do together while allowing some local choices and decisions. Creating non-fossil ways of generating our electricity has already shown the added benefit of generating jobs and helping with property tax revenue.
Meanwhile any reduction in adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere prevents a worsening of climate change. Doing something to prevent problems is better than making it worse. And having some choice in how we do it on a local basis also makes sense. Act 174 is a win-win by encouraging and empowering local participation.
