Bristol woman dies in single-car crash

NEW HAVEN — A Bristol woman was killed early this past Wednesday morning when the car she was driving crashed into a tree.
At around 5:40 a.m. that day, Vermont State Police rushed to the scene of a one-car crash on Main Street near East Street. Upon their arrival troopers learned that Marietta Pomainville, 62, was deceased as a result of the crash.
Police report that the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt that Pomainville was driving spun clockwise in the roadway, travelled left of center and the driver’s side of the vehicle struck the tree, causing severe blunt force trauma to the driver. The vehicle came to a rest facing east.
The road conditions were described as cold and wet. Police said impairment did not appear to be a contributing factor to this crash. They said Pomainville was not wearing a seat belt.
The New Haven Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Bristol Rescue Squad and Addison County Sheriff’s Department assisted state police at the scene.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-388-4919.
