Boys’ hockey falls to Tide

BARRE — Host Spaulding defeated the Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team on Wednesday, 4-2, in a Division I matchup.
The Tigers dropped to 0-2, 0-1 in D-I play, and will look to bounce back on Tuesday at Lake Placid, N.Y., in a non-league game.
The Tide (3-0) took a 3-0 lead as Denver Heath scored three times. Brad Romeo chipped in a goal and set up all three of Heath’s strikes.
The Tigers got back into the game on goals by Andrew Gleason and Kolby Farnsworth, and Jake Peluso picked up an assist.
Cody Gosselin made 13 saves for Spaulding, and Jeffrey Stearns stopped 19 shots for the Tigers.
