78-year-old man injured in Addison crash has died

ADDISON — A 78-year-old Warren man died from injuries he sustained in a near head-on crash on Route 22A in Addison on Sunday afternoon. Deceased is James N. Richman.
Vermont State Police report that Richman was driving a 1999 Subaru Impreza on Route 22A near Nortontown Road at around 4 p.m. on Dec. 11 when the Impreza traveled left of center and struck an oncoming Subaru XVC driven by Edwina Ho, 59, of Shoreham.
Police said Ho pulled her car as far to the right as she could, but could not avoid impact.
The impact caused Richman’s Impreza to overturn and come to a rest on its roof, off the west side of the roadway. Ho’s car also ended up off of the west side of the road.
The Addison Volunteer Fire Department extracted Richman from his car, and then he was transported by ambulance to the UVM Medical Center in Burlington to be treated for massive internal injuries and a broken leg. Police reported on Monday that Richman had died.
Ho was transported by ambulance to Porter Hospital in Middlebury, where she was treated and released.
Neither speed nor impairment appear to be contributing factors at this time.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is requested to contact state police at the New Haven barracks, 802-388-4919.
