ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police on Monday morning dealt with numerous motor vehicle crashes attributed to the snowy and slippery road conditions.
Troopers were assisted in various incidents by the Addison County Sheriff’s Department, Town Line First Response, the Addison Volunteer Fire Department  and the Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department.
Among the crashes state police investigated were the following:
•  At around 6 a.m. a 2016 Subaru XCV driven by 25-year-old Alissa Pabon of Ferrisburgh crashed on Basin Harbor Road near Panton Road in Panton. Pabon was southbound when she lost control of the Subaru due to ice and snow on the roadway. The vehicle crossed the center of the road, left the road and hit a large tree at an estimated 30 mph. Pabon, who was wearing her seat belt, was the only occupant of the vehicle and she was taken to Porter Hospital for evaluation. The Subaru sustained massive impact damage to the front end, and the right front wheel was torn from the vehicle.
The road conditions at the time of the crash were, as well as the vehicle’s lack of sufficient tires for the weather, found to be a contributing factor.
•  At approximately 6:17 a.m. troopers went to a reported two-car crash on Route 125 at Chimney Point in Addison. Police report that a silver Honda driven by 25-year-old Cody Tompkins of Saugerties, N.Y., collided with a guardrail at the foot of the Champlain Bridge and was then struck by a tan Hyundai driven by John Milholland, 49, of Creswell, Ore. Tompkins was traveling east from New York to Vermont, descending from the bridge, when he lost control of his Honda, it struck the guardrail and came to rest in the center of the roadway. Tompkins exited his vehicle and was attempting to warn approaching motorists when his vehicle was struck by the Hyundai driven by Milholland, who was also traveling east from New York to Vermont. Neither man was injured.
•  A just before 7 a.m. state police and the Ferrisburgh Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 7 near Pierce Lane in Ferrisburgh. Police said that Genevieve Williamson, 42, of Ferrisburgh attempted to enter onto Route 7 from her driveway, miscalculated and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. A southbound tractor-trailer driven by Justin Morway, 36, of Williston was unable to slow down in time and collided with Williamson’s 2016 Acura MDX in the southbound lane due to snow and ice conditions. There were no injuries.
•  At about 8 a.m. a 2010 Chrysler 300 sedan driven by Svetlana Newman, 24, of Vergennes crashed on Route 22A Nortontown Road in Addison. Police report that Newman was driving southbound when she lost control of her vehicle due to some ice and snow on the road. It traveled off the shoulder of the southbound lane and stuck a small tree. Newman estimated her speed to be about 20-25 mph at the time of the crash. The Chrysler sustained moderate damage to the front end, and was towed away from the scene. Newman was uninjured.
