Local artists shine at Jackson Gallery’s annual holiday show

ADDISON COUNTY — The Jackson Gallery will be filled with original, handmade and hand printed art, fine crafts and jewelry. This exhibition will feature 22 regional artists whose work represents a wide variety of media and styles. In addition, there will be stained glass panels by New York state guest artist Michael Hart as well as a special display of handcrafted items from Mongolia presented by documentary filmmaker Sas Carey.
Works in the exhibit will include paintings in oil and watercolor ranging from the highly detailed representational works of Mike Mayone and Gayl Braisted to more impressionistic and abstract works like those of Gabrielle McDermit and Carol Calhoun. Joan Curtis will present fanciful colored pencil drawings and Ray Hudson will display his expertly crafted wood block prints. Paintings by artists Jennifer Cole, Phyllis Demong, Peter Langrock, Mimi Love, Molly Hawley, Barbara Nelson, Sarah Wesson and Yinglei Zhang contribute to the eclectic mix.
Fiber artist Deanna Shapiro displays her unique imagery through mixed media, while Deborah Sharpe-Lunstead uses paper pulp as the medium for her painted images. Hope Johnson creates exquisitely crafted quilted pieces on the theme of bees. Hand crafted wood furniture by Richard Steele and jewelry by Meg Madden will round out this exciting exhibit.
This holiday season show has become a tradition at Town Hall Theater and features unique and affordable works available for immediate purchase. The exhibit starts off with an opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 5-7 p.m., and continues through Dec. 31.
