Bristol seeks volunteers to serve on new unified school board

BRISTOL — With the passage on Nov. 8 of the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union plan to consolidate governance and budgeting  as described in Act 46, a new Supervisory District board is forming. Bristol is allotted five seats to this new board; currently only two are filled.
The Bristol School Board is seeking volunteers who are committed to and passionate about the direction of the five-town schools to step forward and apply to fill those last three spots for Bristol residents on the new ANESD board.
The new ANESD board will have an organizational meeting some time in early 2017 and begin its work in preparation of taking over all ANESU operations by July 2018. The current governance structure including the Bristol Elementary School board will remain in operation until that time, and is responsible for appointing the remaining three members to the new board.
Any Bristol resident who would like to be considered for this opportunity is asked to submit a letter of interest to the Bristol School Board, Attn: Karen Wheeler at the ANESU Office on Munsill Avenue in Bristol. Applicants will be invited to attend the December meeting of the Bristol board at which time representatives will be appointed.
This meeting is scheduled for Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bristol Elementary library.
