MIDDLEBURY — Despite cold, wet weather, 158 runners participated in Sunday’s 40th annual Middlebury Turkey Trot, sponsored by the Middlebury Parks and Recreation Department and supported by many area businesses.
It was also the first event organized out of the town’s new Creek Road recreation center, and the 5- and 10-kilometer races were run on new courses.
The first finisher overall in the 5K race was Joe Carter, a former Panton resident who now lives in Wilmington. Middlebury’s Madelyn Stowe was the first female finisher in the 5K, and she was 14th overall.
New Haven’s Chris Coffey won the men’s 10K, and the first woman across the line was Shelby Farrell of Morrisville in 14th.
