Sen. Bray to represent state on national infrastructure, energy committee

MONTPELIER — President Pro-Tem John Campbell announced this week that Sen. Christopher Bray of New Haven has been named to the National Council of State Legislatures to represent Vermont on the Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee.
The committee focuses on state and federal energy, environment, agriculture and transportation programs, legislation, regulations and policies. NCSL committees are bipartisan forums that enable legislators to come together and represent states’ perspectives to Congress and federal agencies. In addition, they serve as a forum for continuing education for legislators and for sharing state initiatives.
Pro-Tem Campbell, in making the appointment, said “Chris Bray has been the lead for the Senate’s major energy bills over the last three sessions, and he will be a valuable representative for Vermont in this national forum. Vermont has done excellent work — work worth sharing. In addition, some issues are larger than our state, such as federal clean power and transportation initiatives, and I want Vermont well represented in those legislative conversations.”
“It’s an honor to be named to the national committee,” said Sen. Bray. “This is a year-round forum for work on energy issues that are critical to Vermont’s and the nation’s economic and environmental future. I look forward to working with legislators of all parties from around the country to help us accomplish more by working together to share and develop best practices.”
Bray lives with his family on a farm in New Haven and owns Common Ground Communications, a publishing and communications firm. He served four years in the Vermont House, and four years in Vermont Senate, where he is currently Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee and Vice-Chair of the Joint Energy Committee.
