Bristol Elementary kids show creativity in fire safety poster contest
BRISTOL — Congratulations to Nora Burgess and Genevieve Forand, Bristol Elementary School third-graders, for having their posters selected to be used in the 2017 Robert Howe Fire Safety Calendar, which is published by the Vermont Division of Fire Safety every year.
Congratulations also to BES third-graders Jack Frizzell and Charlotte Crum for having their posters selected for honorable mentions. The honorable mention posters will be included in the back of the calendar.
This contest, held during Fire Safety Month in October, is open to all the third graders in the state. This year, 35 schools participated, with over 600 entries. On Nov. 7, Burgess, Forand, Frizzell and Crum, along with 22 other students from around the state, were honored in a ceremony that took place in the House Chambers of the State House in Montpelier. Special guests were Sparky the Dog and Smokey the Bear.
