MUHS to perform ‘Little Mermaid’ this Friday-Sunday
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Union High School this weekend will present a stage adaptation of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” — family friendly show.
More than 60 students have been working onstage and off since September to bring the musical’s memorable characters and high-energy songs and dances to life. The show is filled with the irresistible songs from the animated film, including “Under the Sea,” Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.”
The story of the musical is well-known. Ariel (played by Brittany Baker), youngest daughter of King Triton (Jack Waterman), wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric (Tor Bright) in the world above. She bargains with the evil sea witch Ursula (Meigan Clark) to trade her tail for legs. The bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder the fish (Hannah Roque), Scuttle the seagull (Josie Abbott) and Sebastian the crab (Hadley Evans Nash) to restore order under the sea.
Shannon Bohler is the director, Liz LeBeau is the music director, and Anne Severy conducts the student orchestra.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Call 382-1192 to reserve tickets or buy them at the door.
