Ferrisburgh man killed on Route 7 in Charlotte crash
CHARLOTTE — A two-vehicle crash on Route 7 early on Thursday morning claimed the life of Andrew Godaire, 22, of Ferrisburgh.
According to Vermont State Police, Godaire’s southbound 2015 Hyundai Sonata collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer truck, killing Godaire and totaling both vehicles.
The driver of the Freightliner, 50-year-old José Nuñez of Cazenovia, N.Y., was uninjured. According to a press release from VSP’s Williston barracks, Nuñez had no alcohol in his system.
The accident occurred near Route 7’s intersection with Crosswind Drive, about two-thirds of a mile south of the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. VSP, Shelburne police, Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, the Charlotte Fire Department and Charlotte Emergency Medical Services responded at about 1:30 a.m. Authorities closed Route 7 until 10:20 a.m. in the accident’s aftermath.
The crash is under investigation. VSP is asking any witnesses to call 802-878-7111.
