Letter to the editor: Democrats gut utility regulations; harm rural towns

Presently in Vermont’s state legislature under the governing of Peter Shumlin they have silently stopped regulating state utilities, so there is now no law in regulating utilities. Under this unspoken directive the state’s regulatory agencies such as Health, Wildlife, Natural Resources and Energy Committee and the Public Service Board are following out-of-country corporation interests. Interstate profiteers, such as David Blittersdorf, have it easy to support and push for these wind turbine and solar projects in Vermont being friends with Peter Shumlin and giving large contributions to the Democratic Party.
Renewable energy projects, such as wind turbines and solar, are easily sited and placed throughout the state with no veto powers given to the rural Vermont communities. Our state no longer has a democratic system, the Democratic Party now has turned upon the rural communities, many supported them in voting. At the federal level Leahy, Sanders and Welch say hardly anything about the abandonment of the rural communities, the state’s public forest lands, and the pristine Green Mountains of Vermont. Bernie Sanders has openly promoted these actions against humanity.
