ADDISON COUNTY — On this past Sunday, Oct. 23, Vermont State Police responded at a little past 5 p.m. to a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Monkton Road in Monkton.
While en route to the crash, a bystander reported the driver had taken off into the woods.
Vergennes police responded to assist and provide a K-9 to track the driver.
Police found the driver, 36-year-old Ian Nye of Ferrisburgh, walking on Hollow Road in Monkton approximately two hours later.
The vehicle, a 2009 GMC Sierra, appeared to be a total loss.
Nye was transported to Porter Medical Center for evaluation of cuts and processed for driving under the influence. A preliminary breath test at Porter showed that his blood alcohol content was 0.125 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.
Police cited Nye for driving under the influence, second offense.
In other recent activity, troopers:
•  Investigated a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Shoreham at a little after 2 p.m. on Oct. 20. State police report that Amanda Lawlor, 27, of Burlington was driving a 2011 GMC truck on Palmer Road near Bates Road on an overcast and rainy day when she moved over to the right shoulder to avoid a collision with another vehicle. Her truck drove into the ditch and collided with a tree causing the airbag to inflate. Lawlor was taken to the Shorewell Clinic for medical evaluation of a thumb injury.
•  On Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. responded to a minor three-car crash involving a Brandon woman at the intersection of Routes 7 and 3 in Pittsford. According to police, 23-year-old Ashleigh A. Capek-Disorda of Brandon was second in a line of cars stopped for a vehicle making a turn, when a car behind her failed to stop and rear-ended Capek-Disorda’s 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, driving it into the car stopped in front of her. No one was injured and three vehicles sustained minor damage.
•  On Saturday, Oct. 22, at quarter past midnight saw a vehicle operating erratically while traveling southbound on Route 7 in Middlebury. Troopers stopped the car, saw signs of impairment in the driver, and screened her for driving under the influence. Police arrested Crystina B. Hulst, 39, of Salisbury and cited her for driving under the influence of drugs and for resisting arrest because she actively resisted troopers’ efforts to place her in handcuffs.
•  On Oct. 22 at approximately 11:09 a.m. received a report that a car had crashed on Route 7 in Pittsford and the male driver had fled the scene on foot. Police said they found the driver, identified as Richie J. Montani, 51, of Bristol. Montani’s 1998 Subaru Legacy had been traveling northbound and left the east side of the roadway, entered a ditch and went airborne, landing a short distance away. Police said Montani exhibited signs of drug impairment, so police had him screened by a Drug Recognition Expert; Montani refused to provide a blood sample. Police cited Montani for driving under the influence and negligent driving.
