Tiger runners second, VUHS third at Harwood meet
SOUTH DUXBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams each finished second at Saturday’s Harwood Invitational, one spot ahead of runners from Vergennes. The Mount Abraham boys took fourth, while the Eagle girls lacked enough runners to score as a team.
Ross Crowne finished third to lead the Tiger boys, while Spencer Hurlburt was ninth to pace VUHS and Aidan May was 22nd to become the first Eagle boy to cross the finish line.
Kate Oster took eighth for the Tiger girls, followed closely by Commodore Sadie Kass in 10th. Delaynah Leavitt was 19th for the Eagles.
Host Harwood swept the event. The Harwood boys scored 19 points, followed by MUHS (50), VUHS (85), Mount Abe (115) and Blue Mountain (125).
Next up for the three county teams is the Oct. 29 NVAC meet at Missisquoi, followed by the Nov. 5 Division II championship meet at Thetford.
The Harwood girls scored 16 points, followed by the Tigers (54) and Commodores (67).
