Middlebury Police Log: Woman cited for vase throwing at hospital

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Molly B. Saunders, 26, of Middlebury for disorderly conduct and unlawful mischief, after she allegedly threw a vase inside Porter Hospital’s Emergency Department on Oct. 13.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Warned some Court Street residents about making excessive noise on Oct. 10.
• Were informed of the theft of a phone from a Middlebury College student on Oct. 10.
• Cited Renée Nimblett, 48, of Vergennes for retail theft, following an alleged incident at T.J. Maxx at The Centre shopping plaza on Oct. 10.
• Continued their investigation on Oct. 10 into the recent theft of some blank inspection stickers from Denecker Chevrolet on Route 7 South.
• Took into protective custody a drunken man seen walking along North Pleasant Street on Oct. 11.
• Issued a civil violation to a woman for possession of marijuana while conducting a sex offender registry compliance check at the Blue Spruce Motel on Oct. 11.
• Warned a man who had allegedly been harassing pedestrians on Creek Road on Oct. 11.
• Assisted the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department with an alleged incident involving a Middlebury school bus on Mainelli Road on Oct. 11.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a Court Street residence on Oct. 11. Police said they took the resident to a detox facility after determining he was “incapacitated.”
• Helped a Woodland Park resident who had cut herself on Oct. 12.
• Investigated a verbal domestic dispute between teenage sisters on Seymour Street on Oct. 12.
• Helped resolve a dispute between two Route 7 South neighbors on Oct. 12.
• Dispatched Middlebury firefighters to a Route 7 South location where a lawnmower was on fire on Oct. 12.
• Responded to a report of a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident in the Court Street Extension area on Oct. 12.
• Served a no-stalking order on a man in the South Pleasant Street area on Oct. 12.
• Cited Skyler Many, 27, of Salisbury for driving under the influence, following a traffic stop on Case Street on Oct. 12. Police said they measured Many’s blood-alcohol content at 0.097 percent; the legal limit for driving is .08.
• Quieted a noisy neighbor on North Pleasant Street on Oct. 13.
• Were informed that someone drove away from the Maplefields gas station off North Pleasant Street without paying for their gasoline on Oct. 13.
• Assisted a Court Street apartment resident who was the target of a door-knocking prank on Oct. 13.
• Responded to a report of a suspected suicidal man at the Maplefields store on North Pleasant Street on Oct. 13. Middlebury Regional EMS took the man to Porter Hospital to meet with Counseling Service of Addison County staff.
• Assisted state police on a report of a suspicious person on Robbins Road in Cornwall on Oct. 13.
• Contacted the owner of a debit card found in the Brookside Drive area on Oct. 14.
• Investigated a noise complaint at a Court Street apartment building on Oct. 14.
• Responded to a report of smoke from behind a Route 7 motel on Oct. 14. Police said some people had started a pit fire.
• Investigated a minor, three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Court and Cross streets on Oct. 14.
• Went to Middlebury Union High School on Oct. 14 on a report of an uncooperative student.
• Received a report of a car break-in at Wright Park on Oct. 14. Police said a woman returned to her vehicle to find someone had broken out a window to get in and steal some items.
• Responded to a report of a “juvenile problem” at the Champlain Valley Academy in Catamount Park on Oct. 14. Police said a student allegedly threw a bag of game pieces at an adult supervisor.
• Issued court diversion paperwork to four underage Middlebury College students who were found drinking in the cemetery off Hillcrest Road on Oct. 14.
• Led a death investigation at the Residences at Otter Creek retirement community on Oct. 15. Police identified the deceased as Claire Plank, 88. Police suspect the death was a result of an underlying medical condition.
• Conducted a death investigation at an Ossie Road home in East Middlebury on Oct. 15. Police said the deceased was Beverly Duchesne, 79. No foul play is suspected in this case, according to police.
• Responded to a report that a driver left Maplefields on North Pleasant Street on Oct. 15 without paying for gas they had pumped. Police said they were unable to locate the vehicle.
• Investigated a verbal fight between a man and a woman in the Seminary Street area on Oct. 15.
• Responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Halladay Road residence at around 1 a.m. on Oct. 15. Police said the pair had been arguing about politics, reportedly for around two hours.
• Served a temporary restraining order on a man at the Greystone Motel on Route 7 South on Oct. 16.
• Received a report of a driver leaving the Short Stop filling station on Court Street Extension without paying for gas on Oct. 16.
