MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury College women’s golf team finished second behind Williams this past weekend at the NESCAC Women’s Golf Championship, which was contested at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in  Middlebury College. The event also doubled as the inaugural George Phinney Jr. Golf Classic, a 17-team tournament featuring 96 golfers.
Williams prevailed by shooting a two-day total of 629 on the par-71 course, edging the host Panthers by two strokes. Amherst was third at 648.
Middlebury’s Chloe Levins took home medalist honors firing a 74 on day one and a 76 on Sunday for a 150. She finished six strokes ahead of her nearest competitor, Elizabeth Gudas of Williams (78-78-156). Tying for third were Middlebury’s Katharine Fortin (80-77-157) and Tracey Kim of Williams (80-77-157), while Williams’ Phoebe Mattana (81-77-158) rounded out the top five.
Also for Middlebury, Blake Yaccino turned in a pair of 80s to finish in a tie for seventh place, while Hope Matthews (89-79) and Theodora Yoch (85-83) rounded out the team’s scorers.
Helen Dailey (89-83) and Sarah Breckinridge (91-89) also competed for the Panthers.
