MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police investigated reported break-ins at G. Stone Commercial on Foote Street; and at the Grapevine Grille and Drop-In Brewery on Route 7 South during the evening of Sept. 28.
Police reported a small amount of cash stolen from the Drop-In Brewery. They added they don’t believe anything was stolen from G. Stone Commercial.
That followed a reported burglary at the Middlebury Floral & Gifts business on Route 7 South, a block from G. Stone Commercial, on Sept. 24.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Received a report on Sept. 26 about a person having allegedly stolen the identity of a now-deceased former resident of the EastView retirement community.
•  Cited a juvenile Middlebury Union High School student with possession of marijuana on Sept. 26.
•  Investigated a minor motor vehicle accident in the MUHS parking lot on Sept. 26.
•  Cited Ashley Jackson, 23, of New Haven for uttering a forged instrument, following a complaint filed by Addison County Commission Sales on Sept. 26.
•  Were informed of the theft of some cigarettes from the Village Depot store on Court Street on Sept. 27.
•  Responded to the untimely death of a Route 7 South resident on Sept. 28. Authorities found Ashley Boyd, 30, deceased. Police said they don’t suspect foul play in Boyd’s death.
•  Received a complaint about an “agitated” customer at a Court Street business on Sept. 28.
•  Responded to a fatal, two-car crash on the south end of Middlebury village during the evening of Sept. 29. Killed in the crash was David H. Davignon, 75, of Middlebury. The two people in the other vehicle were treated for injuries at Porter Hospital. Police were still investigating the cause of the crash, which occurred on Court Street Extension in front of the Centre Plaza.
•  Investigated a shoplifting complaint at Shaw’s Supermarket  on Washington Street on Sept. 29.
•  Responded to a complaint about a man firing a rifle in the South Street area on Sept. 29. Police said the man was shooting squirrels.
•  Heard from a Route 7 South resident who alleged someone had stolen a package from his home on Sept. 29.
•  Investigated an alleged burglary at a Maple Court residence on Sept. 29. Police said the culprit(s) stole a laptop computer and some medicine.
•  Received a report that someone had slit the screen in a window at Middlebury Floral & Gifts on Route 7 South on Sept. 29. Police said they found no evidence that anyone had entered the building. Middlebury Floral was reportedly burglarized on Sept. 24.
•  Arrested and lodged Timothy Edwards, 52, of Middlebury for allegedly violating the court-ordered conditions of release on Court Street on Sept. 30.
•  Received a report of some drunken men allegedly banging on doors inside a Court Street apartment building on Sept. 30.
•  Cited Eric Quesnel, 42, of Middlebury for unlawful trespassing after he allegedly entered the Champlain Farms store on Court Street on Sept. 30 in spite of an active no-trespass order.
•  Served a restraining order on a South Pleasant Street man on Sept. 30.
•  Received a report about a man allegedly stealing a 12-pack of beer from the Maplefields store on North Pleasant Street on Sept. 30.
•  Referred, to the Counseling Service of Addison County, a student who has been experiencing a mental health crisis at Middlebury Union High School on Sept. 30.
•  Responded to a report of noisy tenants at a Court Street apartment building on Oct. 1.
•  Investigated a report of a loud Middlebury College student party at a Seymour Street Extension home on Oct. 1. Police said the youths were alleged to have been blasting loud music while “chanting” and “throwing kegs.”
•  Issued a marijuana possession ticket to a driver after the consent search of a vehicle on Seminary Street Extension on Oct. 1.
•  Responded to a noise complaint at a Court Street residence on Oct. 1.
•  Monitored a child custody exchange in the Court Street area on Oct. 2.
•  Investigated a report of cows loose on Route 7 South on Oct. 2. Police could not find any cows in the roadway upon their arrival.
