Castleton tabs Casey Wedge for hall of fame
CASTLETON — Former three-sport Mount Abraham Union High School standout and Bristol resident Casey Wedge was inducted into the Castleton University Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 16.
Wedge, a 2006 Castleton graduate, was honored for her outstanding four-year career with the Spartan women’s basketball team.
During her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, Wedge scored between 15.2 and 15.9 points per game. She finished her career third all-time at Castleton with 1,474 points and first in made three-pointers with 277; and she shot 38.1 percent from behind the three-point arc. She also averaged 4.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore and 4.0 assists per game as a senior.
She was twice named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, and three times was chosen as a First Team NAC All-Star. As a sophomore, she helped lead the Spartans to their first-ever NAC basketball title.
Wedge also played one year of lacrosse and two years of soccer for the Spartans. In the 2005 season she recorded 11 goals and six assists and helped the Spartan soccer team win the NAC title and reach the NCAA Division III tournament.
Wedge was a 1,000-point scorer for the Mount Abe girls’ basketball team and played on a Division II championship team. She also excelled for the Eagle girls’ soccer and softball programs.
