Local restaurants participating in ‘Share the Harvest’ event, Oct. 6

VERMONT — The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) is holding its 22nd annual Share the Harvest event at more than 60 food businesses around the state on Oct. 6.
Up to 15 percent of sales at participating restaurants, co-ops, and stores will be donated to NOFA-VT’s Farm Share Program, which assists limited-income Vermonters in obtaining farm fresh fruits and vegetables through subsidized Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. Donations to the Farm Share Program go into a fund that is then disbursed to participating farms offering CSA programs.
In 2016, there are more than 1,400 individuals benefiting from the Vermont Farm Share Program, and a waiting list of others hoping to participate. When customers shop or dine at participating businesses (there are nine in Addison County) on Oct. 6, they will be helping NOFA-VT meet a fundraising goal of $18,000 for the Farm Share Program.
Local Share the Harvest participating businesses as of Sept. 24 were:
In Middlebury: American Flatbread Middlebury Hearth, Courtyard Middlebury Marriott Bistro, Fire and Ice, Green Peppers, Middlebury Natural Foods Coop, Otter Creek Bakery and Stone Leaf Teahouse.
In East Middlebury: The Waybury Inn.
In Ferrisburgh: Red Mill Restaurant at Basin Harbor.
